Composition & Material & Size
A stainless steel hip flask consists of the following parts: cap, gaskets, plastic connecting, mouth, body and upper/bottom cover.
Cap (copper or SS or plastic) & gaskets (silicon or PE) – needs to be airtight in order to prevent the contents from leaking out.
Mouth (SS) – the opening that you drink from.
Connecting (plastic) – when unscrewing the cap does not need to be held by hand.
Body (SS)– main container and holds the liquor.
Upper/bottom cover (SS) – connect with the body and become a flask
Regular shape stainless steel hip flask can be made in a variety of capacities depending on the length of the tube cut: 1oz – 256oz. But novel shape stainless steel hip flask only can be made in one size according to a custom mold.

We will discuss including its composition, material, process, technology, size, packaging, pricing, the different types of stainless steel flasks available, how to choose the right one, and how to use it safely. Let’s get started!
Sanded Flask
Embossed on Sanded & Mirror
There are 2 types of surface finish for flask polishing: sanded and mirror. The difference between the two lies in the mirror polish surface which is very bright and more refined.
Also 2 types of embossing: gravure and letterpress. A concave print means that the logo sinks into the body of the flask, while a convex print means that the logo protrudes from the body. When you touch the surface of the flask with your hand, you will feel the bumpiness.
Print & Laser & Label & Diamonds
Many customers prefer to have their logo printed on the surface of the sanded flask. The advantage of printing is that it can be customized in color. By providing the pantone color code, the worker can mix the ink to achieve the closest color to the panton color code, such as unconventional colors: rose gold, jewel blue, grass green, etc.
If you want to print 2 or more colors, it is not impossible. Some logos with simple designs can be done in sets of colors, but of course the lines between each color should not be too close together when designing.
A point worth noting is that the lines of the design should not be too thin, otherwise the lines will not be printed and the effect will be greatly reduced.
Laser engraving usually refers to energy, and the more powerful the machine is commissioned, the more energy it will have. There are 2 types of engraving in general: normal engraving and black engraving.
Normal laser engraving requires a lot less power than black laser, the engraving time is shorter and the price is relatively much cheaper.
Laser engraving logos on the surface of sanded hip flask is also a style preferred by many customers. Most customers will choose normal engraving, very few customers choose black engraving. In fact, the color presented by the black engraving logo is not completely black, it should be black-brown to be exact.
Very few customers choose to labeling and applique diamonds to the sanded hip flasks. These 2 styles are not often seen on the market.
The tooling cost of the label is more expensive and there is a certain minimum order quantity, which is suitable for customers who make branded wines. Diamond flasks are usually more popular among young girls.
Coating Flask
Spray Paint
The spray paint hip flask is a kind of popular flasks in the market, made by machine spraying paint onto the surface of a sanded hip flask. There are three most common types of spray paint: glossy, matt and rubber paint.
The glossy paint has a very shiny finish and the surface of the flask is smooth to the touch. The matt paint is somewhere between the glossy and rubber paint and has a finer feel than the glossy. The rubber paint is actually a sanded surface with two coats of matt paint, which is very soft and delicate to the touch.
Not only can the flask body be painted, but many customers also like to paint the plastic connecting and the cap. Some flask body are left unpainted with a silver color on the top and bottom, and only the middle is painted. Other customers prefer to spray 2 different colors, first all over the body in one color and then partially paint in another color.
Silk Print & Laser & Water Transfer on Paint Flask
The advantage of printing is that it can be customized in color. By providing the pantone color code, the worker can mix the ink to achieve the closest color to the panton color code, such as unconventional colors: rose gold, jewel blue, grass green, etc.
If you want to print 2 or more colors, it is not impossible. Some logos with simple designs can be done in sets of colors, but of course the lines between each color should not be too close together when designing.
A point worth noting is that the lines of the design should not be too thin, otherwise the lines will not be printed and the effect will be greatly reduced.
Laser engraving logos on spray-painted hip flask is also a very popular type of flasks with our customers. In our experience, the more darkly painted the flask is, the more beautiful the engraving will be.
The color of the laser engraving itself is somewhat tinged with silver, and the engraving will be much more striking against a darker color of paint, such as black, Jewel blue, dark red, etc.
Some customers prefer to have the logo laser engraved on both sides of the flask body, or engraved the logo on the bottom of the flask.
Some customers like to make their logo designs more complex and colorful, and printing such patterns on spray paint is an option with water transfer stickers.
Water transfer printing is to print the design on a thin piece of paper, then workers brush the paper onto the flask surface, bake it dry at a certain temperature and then tear off the film on the surface of the paper, the design will stay on the surface of the spray paint.
Some colorful patterns that cannot be silk screened can be made with water transfer printing, which is a very beautiful way to make a logo.
Plating Flask
The plating hip flask is a premium and niche flask as it is more expensive and only a few customers purchase this type of flask.
Most of the plating is on a mirror finish, as the whole flask body will be shiny and look more beautiful after plating. If plated on a sanded surface, the effect is more mediocre.
The most common plating colors are rose gold, gold and copper, which are the three most popular, while others are gunmetal and iridescent.
Transfer Flask
Water Transfer Flask
Water transfer printing is to print the design on a thin piece of paper, then workers brush the paper onto the flask surface, bake it dry at a certain temperature and then tear off the film on the surface of the paper, the design will stay on the surface of the spray paint.
Half transfers are usually printed on the surface of sanded or spray painted flask, usually with the design on the front of the flask only.
With a colorful pattern like the right picture, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and other festive patterns, the designer matches some colors and the sense of ambience comes out immediately. This design of flask is particularly popular in the market.
Many of our customers like to have large designs that they want to print on their hip flasks, so full water transfer printing is a great option. This technology allows the entire body of the sanded flask to be printed with the design all over, which looks particularly sophisticated and upmarket. There is no need to worry about the pattern losing its color during use.
Heat Transfer Flask
Some customers like to print colorful patterns on leather, so they can choose the technology of heat transfer printing. First the pattern is made on a thin sheet of paper and then a machine is used to print the pattern on the surface of the leather at a certain temperature. Heat transfers are generally divided into 2 types: half transfer and full transfer.
Half transfer printing is only printing the front side of the flask, while a full transfer printing is printing the entire flask body. Many customers like this type of colorful patterned flask, so it is a big seller in the market.
Gas Transfer Flask
Gas transfer printing for hip flask is relatively rare, because the cost of making plates is very expensive and the order MOQ is high, so basically customers do not choose this kind of hip flask, a small number of customers will do samples first to see the effect before deciding whether to order.
The gas transfer process is generally divided into the following steps: 1. spray the flask with a white lacquer, dry it and then spray a transparent lacquer; 2. wrap the whole flask with printed patterned paper, wrap it as tightly as possible to facilitate the transfer of the pattern on the flask; 3. put the flask into the oven and adjust the specific temperature and time for baking; 4. after baking, wait for the flask to cool down, tear off the paper outside and you can see the pattern printed on the surface of the flask.
There are generally 2 effects of gas transfer: glossy and matt, depending on whether the white lacquer is glossy or matt. If the white lacquer is glossy, then the final transfer will be glossy, otherwise it will be matt.
Leather Flask
Embossed & Glitter Flask
Embossed logo on leather flask is a particular bestseller flask and is particularly popular with brand owners. Embossing on leather is a process in which a copper mould with a logo engraved in advance is applied to the leather under a machine with a certain amount of pressure. After the logo has been embossed, it will feel distinctly concave to the touch.
There are two types of embossed effect: non-discolored logo and discolored logo. The only difference between the two is that if you want the logo to change color, you have to emboss it on discolored leather. Once the logo has been embossed on it, the color of the logo will become darker and the logo will look particularly striking, so many customers choose this type of discolored logo.
Most customers usually choose darker color leathers such as black and brown for embossing, which gives the logo a better overall look and feel.
The glitter leather flask is a particularly popular flask among young people. This leather is available in dozens of colors, such as everyone’s favourite rose gold, champagne, ruby blue and so on.
The glitter leather can only be made with one logo which is hollowed out on the machine and attached to the body of the flask. This type of leather has a low minimum order quantity, 100 pieces of one color can be made, so many customers like to order this type of flask.
Silk Print & Heat Transfer Flask
There are four options for silk printing logos on leather: single-color silk printing, multi-color silk printing, silver stamping and gold stamping.
Single-color silk printing is a printing of only one color on the leather, which is more common. By providing the pantone color code, the worker can mix the ink to achieve the closest color to the panton color code, such as unconventional colors: rose gold, jewel blue, grass green, etc.
Multi-color screen printing is the printing of 2 or more colors on the leather. Some logos with simple designs can be done in sets of colors, but of course the lines between each color should not be too close together when designing.
A small number of customers choose to have their logo printed in silver or gold, which gives the logo a silver or gold color and makes it shine in the sunlight.
A point worth noting is that the lines of the design should not be too thin, otherwise the lines will not be printed and the effect will be greatly reduced.
Spliced Flask & Diamonds Flask
Many customers prefer to purchase flasks in spliced leather. A spliced leather flask is a flask in which several different colors or materials of leather are pieced together and wrapped around the body of the flask. This type of flask looks more fashion.
The most common type of spliced leather flask is the top and bottom pressed strip one, where 2 narrow strips of leather are fixed to the top and bottom of the entire leather with a thin thread, wrapping the leather body so that there is a narrow strip at the top and bottom of the flask body.
Another common type of spliced leather flask is the gingham flask, which is more suited to the British market. The gingham flask is available in a wide range of colors and can be printed with a logo on the pressed strip.
More unusual flag flasks are available, such as the Canadian flag flask and the American flag flask. These are very labour cost as the spliced leather section is more complex and there are many sewn sections.
The wraparound diamond flask is a stylish flask that is particularly popular among young girls. There are generally 2 types: the whole body covered with diamonds and the partial body covered with diamonds.
The whole body covered with diamonds: a lot of small plastic diamonds are glued to a piece of clear leather and the whole piece of leather is then wrapped around the entire body of the flask. The whole piece can also be inlaid with different colored diamonds, and the logo can be made in the middle of the piece, so that the logo is on the front of the flask after it has been wrapped.
The partial body covered with diamonds: the flask is first wrapped in a full piece of leather and then a design pre-made with a plastic drill is glued to the front of the flask.
Genuine/Wood Flask & Holster Flask
More and more clients are now preferring to source wood-grained flasks. There are usually only a few wood grains and not much choice. If you want to do a logo, basically choose to use silk-screen printing, there is no way to do other technologies.
The genuine leather flask is a flask that a few clients will choose because genuine leather is more expensive and not suitable for promotional items. A strong brand will choose this kind of flask with a printed logo, which looks first class, atmospheric and high quality, especially suitable for gifts.
The holster hip flask is a great flask for the outdoors and many men favor this style.
Depending on the shape and size of the flask, the holster can be made into different types, mostly rectangular, but also round, etc. There is a wide choice of leather color, mostly in black or brown or camouflage. The holster can also be sewn with 2 straps so that it can be carried on the shoulder, freeing up your hands.
Flask Gift Set
Tiandi Cover Gift Set
The Tiandi cover gift set is one of the most common gift sets and is popularly available with 2 types of lining: EVA lining and satin lining. the EVA lining is usually black and the satin lining is available in yellow, black or other colours.
The back of a gift box usually does not have a stand. Now there is a new type of stand called the invisible stand, where a piece of cardboard is cut out in the shape of a stand and then glued to the back of the gift box. When the box needs to be displayed, the stand can be taken out to hold up the whole box; when the box does not need to be displayed, the stand can be invisible.

A paper card is usually inserted on the back of the product with a printed instruction manual for the customer to understand the function of the product.
Flip-Top/Wooden Box Gift Set
The flip-top gift set is similar to the Tiandi cover gift set, except that one side of the top cover is attached to the bottom cover. The lining inside can also be with EVA, satin etc.
The wooden box gift set is one of the lesser ordered gift sets, mainly because of the high price of wooden boxes. This type of gift set is very high class and also has a collector’s value. It is suitable for brands with a certain financial strength to customized.
